What Makes English Difficult??

So far I feel English is a difficult language to learn because of some reasons. The first reason is that English has so many words and also many English words has same sound but they are spelled differently. For example, holly and holy sound are exactly same, but they are spelled differently ( you can see by yourself in a dictionary ).
The second reason is that English has so many idioms. There are so many idioms in common use by English speaker. And the most important reason is English has grammar system. I feel that English grammar is hard to learn because it has many exceptions. Of course this difficulties will be effect to our understanding in learning English. But actually, if we learning vocabulary frequently with open dictionary frequently too and also with the other ways to increase our vocabulary, maybe the difficulties will be decrease.
English is a difficult language, but English is a unique language and also it has many variation words. With study frequently, it can help your problems in learning English.

The Powerful Influence Of Weather

Weather has a powerful effect on people. It influences health, intelligence, and feelings.
In August, it is very hot and wet in the southern part of the United States. Southerners have heart attacks and other kinds of health problems during this month. In the Northeast and the Middle West, it is very hot at some times and very cold at other times. People in these states tend to have heart attacks after the weather changes in February or March.
The weather can also affect intelligence. For example, in a 1938 study by scientists, the IQ (intelligence Quotient) scores of a group of undergraduate college students were very high during a hurricane, but after the storm, their scores were 10 percent (%) below average. Hurricanes can increase intelligence. Very hot weather, on the other hand, can lower it. Students in many of the United States often do badly on exams in the hot months of the year (July and August).
Weather also has a strong influence on people’s feelings. Winter may be a bad time for thin people. They usually feel cold during these months. They might feel depressed during cold weather. In hot summer weather, on the other hand, overweight people may feel unhappy. Tje summer heat may make them tired and irritable.
Low air pressure relaxes people. It increases sexual feelings. It also increases forgetfulness. People leave more packages and umbrellas on buses and in stores on low-pressure days. There is a “perfect weather” for work and health. People feel best a temperature of about 64°F with 65 percent (%) humidity (moisture in the air).
Are you feeling sick, sad, tired, forgtetful, or very intelligent today? The weather may be the cause.

Indonesians Education Problems

Indonesia as one of developed country has many reasons to establish education aspect in globalization era. Nowdays, however, Indonesians have many problems in their study habit.
First aspect is their ability to choice invansion culture from western. It made them lost their willingness to read. They prefer play console or watch movie in cinema to read a book. Library, had been built for support education, was left by society; mall or coffeeshop became very crowded place for them. The ability to distribute material of study is second aspect. Quality level of teacher should be asked by society, well being of teacher has became problem in education environment for a long time. It made Indonesians lost their probability to face modernization. Tools for research in education is so limited that has made us who are want to make research blocked by it. It is third aspect of problems in study habit. Professor always work in abroad better than in Indonesia for reaons in years ago. How poor Indonesia is!

Why we need to drink a lot?

About 80% body of human being consisted of the water. Moreover, there are some parts of body of us which having water component above 80%. Two most important organs with water component above 80% are brain and blood. The brain owns component as much 90%. For a while the blood owns water component up to 95%.
The drinking quota of human being normally at least 2 liter or 8 glasses a day. The amount above has to be added if you are smoker. Those great quantities of water are needed to change secretory dilution from our body through urine, sweats, respiration, and secrecy. If we consume less than two liter per day, of course, the body will balance itself by way of “inhaling” water from the components of the body. From the brain? Not yet, but from the closest source: blood.
Blood which is water inhaled, will become to jell. The effect of this inhaled blood, so the way of coagulation will less be fluent compared to watery. When it through kidney (the place to filter poison from the blood) kidney will work extra hard to filter the blood. Meanwhile, the kidney’s filter is very smooth, so the gore can caused the torn in the glomerulus kidney. As a result, your urine will be reddish. That’s the sign of the beginning of kidney’s filter weakness. If it let continuously, someday you probably have to spend Rp. 400.000/ week for blood wash.
When the gore circulates through the brain, its transportation will rather obstruct. Brain won’t be “watery”, and because the brain cells consume a lot of oxygen and food, it’s tardy in this blood stream can cause broken brain cell or do not function properly. If this problem added with heart sickness, so stroke can quickly attack.
Now, the decision is yours. Will you choose doing “investment” by drinking 8 glasses of water a day or “paying interest” for kidney disease or stroke?

Why are women not allowed to have husbands more than one?

In our society, it’s common for a husband to have wife more than one maximally three, whereas women are not permitted to have husbands more than one. Some people say that this is discrimination for the women; it is injustice. This time I am going to make it clear.

The first of all, I would like to give explanation about the terminology about having more than one couple married. Having more than one wife for men is called polygamy. On the other hand having more than one husband for women is called polyandry. I’m sure that we usually hear these terminologies. The former is allowed in our law and the last is not allowed.

Actually there are many reasons about the prohibition of polyandry, but in my writing I will explain one reason only. It is based on status of the children they have. The women can naturally delivery a baby, and it is quite different with men. Men can have a baby but they can not delivery it. Now try to compare between two girls who are monoandry and polyandry. When a woman who has one husband deliveries a baby, we can still identify whose father the baby belongs to, but if a woman who is polyandry deliveries a baby, we can not easily to identify that the baby belongs to which husband. It can belong to first husband, second husband, even third husband.

If we want to compare polygamy with polyandry, we can find that there are big differentiations between them. When a polyandry man has a baby from second wife, we can say that the baby belongs to this father and this mother because it is clear enough, but when a polyandry woman has delivered a baby, it is hard for us to justice that the baby’s father is the first husband, second husband, or third husband.

We can allegory this problem with a kettle and a cup. The kettle is men and the cup is women. When a kettle full of with milk is poured in to several cups, we can say that the cups consist of milk. It is just like a man has many wives. It is easy to identify the father of the baby because there only one source. Now try to see how if a woman is polyandry. There are three kettle (husbands), consisted of different kinds of drink (each of them are orange juice, whiskey, and tea) and an empty cup (the wife of three husbands). Now pour the orange juice into the cup, and then pour the whiskey and the last pour the tea. Can you guess what the cup contains now? Absolutely it’s hard for you to say that the cup contains orange juice because you have poured whiskey and tea also. It’s simply the same with identifying the father of a baby whose mother has many husbands.

From the brief explanation above, we can see clearly the reason why polygamy is allowed while polyandry is forbidden in our law. It is just a matter of baby’s status. There are still many reasons why this practice is illegal but I can explain only based on this point of view because of limitations of my ability in explaining. Thank you for reading my writing. And I really hope your comment for better work.

HOW THE SEASONS CHANGE?

Every year, there is different season. Countries that didn’t lie in the equator have four seasons. They are spring, summer, autumn and winter.
The change of season is caused by the rotation of earth. The earth surrounded the sun once a year. It is leaning when it rotated. It caused the change of seasons.
Spring occurs when a side of earth is starts leaning toward the sun when surround it. The weather is warm, the plants are bloom, the leaves grow and the birds make their nest. In summer, a side of earth is leaning toward the sun when surround it. The plants grow well and bear fruit. The insects swing and also look for their meals freely in the ground. Beside that, rabbits and antelopes grow fast. Afterwards, autumn occurs when a side of earth is starts leaning farther the sun when surround it. The weather is cold. The plants lost their leaves. The insects dead but left their egg. Finally, in winter a side of earth is leaning farther the sun when surround it. The weather is very cold. Most of the animals hid and have their hibernation.

How the Rain Happened?

Rain is the water that falls from the clouds in the separate drop. Some countries, exactly which lie in the around of equator line like Indonesia, have the rains as one of the season. It usually happened in October to April. It is influenced by the blowing of the wind from the ocean that blows in the particular period.
In Indonesia, rain is produced when the wind blow from the west that comes from The Hindia Ocean. The winds which blow above the ocean bring much steam from the evaporation of the sea water that is passed. It brings much steam because the ocean that is passed is too large. When the wind reaches the land, the steams condense to be dew and drop in the land. The dew drop is usually called the rain.
That is the how rain happened. It is usually happened in October to April because the blowing of the wind from Hindia Ocean usually happened in that period. But, sometimes it is not exactly begin in October because the influence of the weather.

The Digestive System

The Digestive System
Human body is made up of countless millions of cells. Food is needed to build up new cells and replace the worn out cells. However, the food that we take must be changed into substance that can be carried in the blood to the places where they are needed. This process is called digestion.
The first digestive process takes place in the mount. The food we eat is broken up into small pieces by the action of teeth, mixed with saliva, a juice secreted by glands in the mount. Saliva contains digestive juices which moisten the food. So, it can be swallowed easily.
From the mount, food passes through the esophagus (the food passage) into the stomach. Here, the food is mixed with the juices secreted by the cells in the stomach for several hours. Then the food enters the small intestine. All the time the muscular walls of the intestine are squeezing, mixing, and moving the food onwards.
In a few hours, the food changes into acids. These are soon absorbed by the villi (microscopic b ranch projections from the intestine walls) and passed into the bloodstream.

The Greenhouse Effect

Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s near-surface air and oceans since the mid-20th century and its projected continuation. The causes of the recent warming are an active field of research. The scientific consensus is that the increase in atmospheric greenhouse gases due to human activity caused most of the warming observed since the start of the industrial era, and the observed warming cannot be satisfactorily explained by natural causes alone. This attribution is clearest for the most recent 50 years, being the period most of the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations took place and for which the most complete measurements exist.
The greenhouse effect was discovered by Joseph Fourier in 1824 and first investigated quantitatively by Svante Arrhenius in 1896. It is the process by which absorption and emission of infrared radiation by atmospheric gases warm a planet’s lower atmosphere and surface. Existence of the greenhouse effect as such is not disputed. The question is instead how the strength of the greenhouse effect changes when human activity increases the atmospheric concentrations of particular greenhouse gases. Naturally occurring greenhouse gases have a mean warming effect of about 33 °C (59 °F), without which Earth would be uninhabitable. On Earth the major greenhouse gases are water vapor, which causes about 36–70 percent of the greenhouse effect (not including clouds); carbon dioxide (CO2), which causes 9–26 percent; methane (CH4), which causes 4–9 percent; and ozone, which causes 3–7 percent.

Photosynthesis

Photosynthesis

What is photosynthesis? Photosynthesis is a food-making process that occurs in green plants. It is the chief function of leaves. The word photosynthesis means putting together with light. Green plants use energy from light to combine carbon dioxide and water to make sugar and other chemical compounds.

How is the light used in photosynthesis?

The light used in photosynthesis is absorbed by a green pigment called chlorophyll. Each food-making cell in a plant leaf contains chlorophyll in small bodies called chloroplasts. In chloroplast, light energy causes water drawn form the soil to split into hydrogen and oxygen.

What are the steps of photosynthesis process? Let me tell you the process of photosynthesis, in a series of complicated steps, the hydrogen combines with carbon dioxide from the air, forming a simple sugar. Oxygen from the water molecules is given off in the process. From sugar together with nitrogen, sulphur, and phosporus from the soil-green plants can make starch, fat, protein, vitamins, and other complex compounds essential for life. Photosynthesis provides the chemical energy that is needed to produced these compounds.

The Effects of Acid Soil

"The Effects of Acid Soil"

Soils with a pH of less than 7.0 are acid. The lower the pH, the more acid the soil. When soil pH falls below 5.5, plant growth is affected. Crop yields decrease, reducing productivity

Soils provide water and nutrients for plant growth and development. Essential plant nutrients include phosphorus, nitrogen, potassium and sulfur. Plants require other elements such as molybdenum, in smaller quantities. Some elements eg aluminium and manganese, are toxic to plants.

Nutrients become available to plants when they are dissolved in water. Plants are able to take up phosphate, nitrate, potassium and sulfate ions in solution.

The solubility of nitients changes with pH. In acid soils (low pH), molybdenum becomes less soluble and aluminium becomes more soluble. Therefore, plant growth may be affected by either a deficiency of molybdenum or too much aluminium.

Both crop and pasture plants are affected by acid soils. there may be a range of symptoms. Crops and pastures may be poorly established resulting in patchy and uneven growth. Plant leaves may go yellow and die at the tips. The root system of the plant may be stunted. Crops may yield less.

Plants vary in their sensitivity to low pH. Canola and lucerne are very sensitive to acid soils so do not grow well. Lupins and triticale are tolerant to soils of low pH so they still perform well.

Land can become unproductive if acid soil is left untreated. Incorporating lime into the soil raises the pH. Therefore, liming soil can reverse the effects of acid soil on plants and return a paddock to productivity.

How Chocolate is made

How Chocolate is made

Have we wondered how we get chocolate from? Well this time we will enter the amazing world of chocolate so we can understand exactly we are eating.

Chocolate starts a tree called cacao tree. This tree grows in equatorial regions, especially in place such as South America, Africa, and Indonesia. The cacao tree produces a fruit about the size of a small pine apple. In side the fruits are the tree's seeds. They are also known as coco beans.

Next, the beans are fermented for about a week, dried in the sun. After that they are shipped to the chocolate maker. The chocolate maker starts by roasting the beans to bring out the flavour. Different beans from different places have different qualities and flavour. So they are often shorted and blended to produce a distinctive mix.

The next process is winnowing. The roasted beans are winnowed to remove the meat nib of the cacao bean from its shell. Then the nibs are blended. The blended nibs are ground to make it a liquid. The liquid is called chocolate liquor. It tastes bitter.

All seeds contain some amount of fat and cacao beans are not different. However, cacao beans are half fat, which is why the ground nibs from liquid. It is pure bitter chocolate.

How Cell Phones Work

How Cell Phones Work
A cell phone is a great gadget in this modern world. What is a cell phone? A cell phone is actually a radio in certain way. Like a radio, by a cell phone we can communicate to other people in real time. Million people use cell phone for their communication. Even nowadays, people use cell phones to communicate in voice, written and data. Alexander Graham Bell is the person who make great change in the way people communicate to each other. He invented a telephone in 1876. While wireless radio was formally known in 1894 presented by Guglielmo Marconi. By these two technologies, then a cell phone was born. However do you know how actually cell phones work?

This short explanation on how a cell phone work is really wonderful. A cell phone or in long term "cellular telephone' works by transmitting signals of radio to towers of cellular. The towers are networked to a central switching station. The connection usually uses wire, fiber optic-cables, or microwave.

Then the central switching station which handles calls in certain given area is directed connected to the wire-based telephone system. Cellulars are pick up by the towers and relayed to another cellular telephone user or the user of wire-based telephone network.

the towers vary in the capacity and capability to receive signals. Some can receive the signal from short distance and the others can receive more distance. However, there are usually more than one tower in certain given area so that the system can handle the increasing telephone traffic.
